New changes to the Pyramid
Hey everyone,
I’ve added a few things to the Pyramid Fantasy League to make the season a little more interesting between the transfer windows.
The basic game is still exactly the same. You still live and die by the clubs you picked, and the fall/spring transfer windows are unchanged. I just wanted to give us a few more reasons to check the site during the season besides, “Well, I guess I’m still in 6th.”
The biggest addition is the **Spotlight Club**.
Each week, you can pick one of your 12 clubs as your Spotlight Club. If that team ties for the most league points earned that week among your own clubs, you get a **2-point bonus**.
You don’t have to remember to pick one every week. Once you choose a Spotlight Club, it stays selected until you change it.
There’s also a new **Managers’ League**. This is a completely separate head-to-head table. Each week you’ll be matched against another manager, and whoever scores more Pyramid points that week gets the win.
It works like a normal football table:
3 points for a win
1 for a draw
0 for a loss
So even if your original team selections have turned out to be a complete disaster, you can still potentially be doing well in the Managers’ League.
We’re also adding a **Pyramid Cup** later in the season. This will be a straight knockout competition using your normal weekly score. No extra picks, no extra lineup management, no complicated nonsense. You either outscore the other person that week or you’re out.
The standings now also have a **projected final score**. This shows roughly what your score would be if the season ended today, including the bonuses and penalties that normally don’t get applied until the end of the year.
That should make the standings a little more meaningful during the season, since some of the biggest scoring swings were previously hidden until May.
I’ve also improved the weekly recap stuff so we can more easily see who had the best week, who moved up or down, which clubs were the best value, and what happened in the head-to-head matches.
And just to be clear: **nothing is being applied retroactively.** Nobody gets mystery points for things that happened before these features existed. Everything starts from here.
Hopefully this gives us a little more to follow each week without turning the game into one of those fantasy leagues where you have to make 17 roster moves every Tuesday night.
Go pick your Spotlight Club.
